INTRODUCTION:
Women Development Cell (WDC) is a statuary body for the prevention or action against sexual harassment of women. It looks into the matter of complaints and grievances of faculty, staff and students. Thus, the prime role of Women Development Cell of the college is to deal with cases of sexual harassment if any occur. Women Development Cell has to be attentive to provide a safe educational campus for students, especially for the female students. It also pays attention to make them aware of the various schemes and policies meant for them. Women Development Cell tries to make them feel free to share their problems. Women Development Cell is also known as Sexual Harassment Prohibition Committee and Women Redressal Cell as well.
Women Development Cell established in the college in 2006.
Internal Complaint Committee( ICC ) is established in 2018, as per University norms.
Aims:
To empower girl students with knowledge of law, gender equity and train them to maintain physical fitness for self protection.
Objectives:
- To prevent sexual harassment and to promote well-being of female students, teaching and non-teaching women staff of the college.
- To provide and maintain a dignified working environment for women employees and students.
- To generate gender awareness and sensitivity among the faculty and students.
- To create legal awareness on the specific issues concerning girl students and women.
- To create social awareness about the problems of women and in particular regarding gender discrimination.
- To encourage participation of NGOs working in the area of women’s development in the activities of the cell.
- To highlight the importance of health and hygiene.
- Promotion, development and dissemination of knowledge regarding the role of girl students and women in the present social context.
- To develop the self-confidence of women.
- To develop multi-disciplinary approach for the overall personality development.
