Department of Marathi Established in 1961 at the beginning to improve Regional Language and Mother tongue of the students of this college. The main intention to start this department is to create awareness and attachment about the importance of Marathi language which has constitutional base in our country. Many of Marathi authors viz, V. S. Khandekar, Vinda Karandikar, Bhalchandra Nemade, Kusumagraj have received Dyanptith award. Former head of department Prof. Shashikant Yarnalkar founded the Drama Institute called Kalavalay to promote the interest against the acting not only to the students but also in the society and the vicinity of the College.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- To motivate the students to understand the basic Marathi and Konkani regional language
- To enable the students to acquire the skills of language like Reading Skill (Comprehension), Writing Skill, Speaking Skill (Communication) and Listening skill.
- To prepare the students for effective communication
- To enable the students to face the global corporate World
- To develop the self-confidence for personality development and language competence
- To provide better alternative choice to those students who have passed their higher secondary examination.

DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY
The books of the Marathi are kept in central library of the College. The text books, the reference books are kept in the Central Library of the College. Total books in the Central Library relating to Marathi department are about 5816. Faculty has their own personal library having 53 reference books.
LIST OF PROMINENT ALUMNI
The number of past students of our department has acquired various positions in private and government services. There are about students having successfully passed their B.A.III final examination in subject Marathi. Due to Excursion – Study Tour almost all student coming contact with teacher. Almost all students have successfully joined either education field or some other field for their P.G. studies & professional studies.
