      Br. Balasaheb Khardekar, the English graduate, the first principal of the college, the eminent philosopher, the renowned educationalist, the distinguished orator, the Ex. parliament member, the well read person was the man of vision. With his visionary sight, he had understood the importance of English in up-coming years. Consequently, the department of English established in 1961.
   As English has occupied nearly all the sectors of profession, English has become an inevitable need of modern scenario. Hence, the department always motivates the students to learn English language. The department encourages students to speak in English in college campus. The faculty of department always takes enthusiasm in solving students' difficulties as far as English is concerned. Both faculty have achieved their Doctorate degrees and thus, have shown their interest in research activity too. Keeping at the centre the age of globalization and its challenges to the education sector to face, the department takes initiative to organize various programmes and activities in a department.
    As English is a foreign language to students especially, our students living in rural and comparatively remote area, they have a fear of English in their mind. On this background, the department faculty has towork hard to develop and sustain their interest to English. Accordingly, the department takes continuous efforts for the same. Again highlighting the background of our students, the departments feels proud of its alumni as they express their gratitude towards the department for their lifelong settlement as well as the guidance provided by the department.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- Objectives of the Dept.
1. To strengthen the students to face the global challenges.
2. To strengthen the confidence among the students.
3. To strengthen them in basic skills- Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing and
Communication.
4. To diffuse the knowledge of English among English teachers from the feeding area.
5. To inculcate core values among them.
ACADEMIC PLANNING
The Department of English plans academic schedule at the beginning of the academic year.
The Head of the department calls meeting of the department and several issues, regarding syllabus,
periods, activities, seminars and others are discussed in detail in these meetings.
Besides, the faculty maintains a diary where daily report of teaching is recorded.

Nature and Achievements of the activity | The department organized the Wall Paper Exhibition on 'Literary and Non-literary Issues' 20 March, 2018 which was inaugurated by the Principal. V. A. Dewoolkar. The faculty of the English department, the staff members and the students of the English department were present for the inauguration. The literature students were asked to create the wall papers on literary issues while commerce students were asked to write on contribution of successful business women. The students participation was admirable and noteworthy. |
